Cardiovascular Services

Spring Branch Medical Center has a 12-bed dedicated Cardiovascular Care Unit.

CardiacCare Center and Cath Lab

The CardiacCare Center at SBMC and the team of highly trained professionals provide a comprehensive cardiovascular program that includes: cardiac catheterization, cardiac rehab services, off-pump coronary bypass, videoscopic vein harvesting, angioplasty and other interventional cardiac procedures. Our active cardiac rehab team is a member of the American Heart Association Mended Hearts Support Group. The cardiac catheterization lab has two labs that perform diagnostic and interventional procedures, including the latest technology in coronary stenting and angioplasty. Our open-heart surgeries are performed each year by board certified specialists and our cardiovascular support team.

Cardiac Rehabilitation Program
Spring Branch Medical Center offers a three-phase cardiac rehabilitation program to help patients improve heart function and endurance, reduce cardiac risk factors, decrease stress and provide educational resources for patients and their families.

PHASE I: The inpatient phase is available for hospitalized patients with cardiovascular disease. The emphasis is on managing patients in the acute phase of treatment offering support and preparation for discharge home.

PHASE II: The hospital-based outpatient program is designed to assist the patient and family during the transitional stage following an acute hospitalization. The emphasis is on effecting life-style changes in an outpatient setting by providing cardiac monitoring during exercise and support.

PHASE III: Offers a long-term approach for maintenance and secondary prevention as an outpatient. The emphasis is on reinforcing behavioral changes and setting goals to improve cardiovascular fitness.

Mended Hearts, Houston Chapter 38, has a visiting program at Spring Branch Medical Center. Mended Hearts accredited visitors provide hope, encouragement, and support to patients and their families. Mended Hearts co-hosts with Cardiac Rehabilitation a support group meeting that meets the second Thursday of each month. The support meetings invite those with heart disease and their families to share their heart-related experience, and obtain educational information from speakers on topics of concern to heart patients.
